Application Process

How can I Request An Application?
Our Application is fully online. Check out the Program page for more details

What do I need when applying?
Visit the Program page to see what is needed.

Are you currently taking applications?
We typically take applications on a quarterly basis. There are times when we do close an application window due to job demand or other factors. To see our application window, please request an application account in our TradeSchool Software to view the application schedule.

Do I need prior experience before applying?
No, but it will set you apart from the other 200+ applicants. 

The Aptitude Test

What is the aptitude test?
The aptitude test covers basic algebra and reading comprehension.

How do I schedule my Aptitude test?
You will receive an email after your application has been approved with the date and time of your test.

What should I bring?
Photo ID. All other materials including pencils will be provided.

When should I arrive?
15 minutes before the test starts.

Do you have a study guide?
There are sample questions located at the Electrical Training ALLIANCE website.

How will I know if I passed the test?
Results will be emailed to you within 24-48 hours.

I didn't pass the test, what now?
You must wait 3 months from your test date to retake the test. You will have to reapply, which includes a new application fee.

The Interview

How do I get an Interview?
If you passed the test you will be invited to our interview process. 

I just interviewed, now what?
You will receive an email with your interview score and your ranking on our selection list. From here you will be contacted by us if a job opens or if you made the selection for the next class.

How long do I stay on the list?
One year from your interview date.

If you are a person with a physical or mental impairment (including learning disabilities) that you believe may affect your ability to complete any aspect of the application process (including testing), and if you need an accommodation to ensure that the test battery accurately measures your skills and abilities, you must notify the AJATC/JATC before, or as soon as you are scheduled to take the NJATC aptitude test battery.

Accommodation requests given on the test day CANNOT be addressed that day. In most cases, you will need to provide:

  • Documentation of your disability, and

  • Documentation of the need for a particular accommodation.

  • Your request will be considered promptly.
